Investor & Self-Employed Permits
Mauritius offers four investment-based Occupation Permit routes — all valid for 10 years — suited to business owners, freelancers, tech founders, and high-net-worth investors.

- Self-Employed OP — USD 50,000 investment for freelancers and consultants

Professional Occupation Permits
If you have been offered a role with a Mauritian company, your employer sponsors your Occupation Permit. Two tracks are available based on experience and salary level.
- Professional OP — minimum MUR 50,000/month; duration follows employment contract up to 10 years
- Young Professional OP — for recent graduates; MUR 25,000/month minimum; valid up to 3 years
- Application submitted by the employer via the EDB National E-Licensing System
Retire in Paradise
Mauritius is one of the world's most sought-after retirement destinations — tropical beauty, political stability, and zero inheritance, capital gains, and dividend tax.
- Retired Non-Citizen Permit — age 50+; transfer USD 2,000/month; 10-year renewable permit

Live in Mauritius
The Premium Visa lets citizens of 110+ countries live in Mauritius for up to one year, renewable, while working remotely for employers or clients outside Mauritius.
- Stay 6–12 months, renewable — no minimum income requirement
- Work must remain with employers or clients based outside Mauritius
- Apply fully online; no physical attendance at the EDB required
Own Property, Gain Residency
Purchasing a property under EDB-approved schemes automatically grants you a residence permit — no separate occupation permit required.

Permanent Residency
After 5 consecutive years on an Occupation or Residence Permit, you may apply for the 20-year Permanent Residence Permit — the closest to permanent settlement Mauritius offers.
Qualifying Period
Hold your Investor, Professional, Self-Employed, or Retirement permit for 5 consecutive years while meeting the relevant thresholds.
Qualifying Investor
Direct route to PRP with a minimum investment of USD 375,000 in a qualifying business — no prior permit required.
Golden Visa
Invest USD 1M in Fintech, AI, Biotech or Renewable Energy and apply for the PRP within 12 months.
Years of Stability
The PRP is valid for 20 years, renewable for a further 20 — giving you long-term, secure settlement in Mauritius.
